the Founder and CEO of Operation: INSPIRE. When I was a novice OR manager, I received a gut-wrenching call from a frantic mother whose son, a college quarterback, was just wheeled to our recovery room and had a wrong finger surgery. We were supposed to operate an index finger. Instead, we did the middle finger.
Our patients go to surgery to be healed, not for us to do harm. This never event was an impetus for Operation: INSPIRE, to improve surgical outcomes while building life-long trusting relationships within our community and the organizations that we serve.
